What is a 30 day challenge?

Do you ever feel like you are doing the same thing every day? Going through the days without really thinking about the things you do and why you do them? If so, you’re probably stuck in your daily routines and (trust us) you’re not the only one.

Did you know that around 40% of everything you do is a habit? Habits are the things you do on a daily basis that does not require much conscious thinking. They pretty much happen on autopilot. Because of the daily repetition, habits have a big impact on a person’s long-term results. Knowing this, wouldn’t it be wise to become aware of your daily habits and the effects they have on your life? Once that awareness is gained you can consciously choose which habits serve you and which don’t. This is where 30 Day Challenges come in. During a 30 day challenge, you will tweak one of your daily habits for 30 days to experience the effects of that change. By doing one challenge at the time most people can manage the change without overwhelming themselves. Once the 30 days are finished you can choose if you wish to keep the activity as a habit or not. You’ve possibly mastered a new habit that can positively impact every area of your life. Additionally, whether you decide to continue with your activity or not, you’ll have learned some valuable information about yourself which you can take with you for the rest of your life! 

Why 30 day challenges?

There are several reasons why you should do a 30 day challenge. We’ve listed a view of them below.

  • It makes you more aware of yourself and the effects that your habits have on your life.
  • It trains your discipline muscle, which will help you with making the right choices and taking the right actions.
  • It helps you to develop good habits and getting rid of bad ones.

What 30 day challenges could you do?

James Clear, a well-known habit expert, has written the article “The Habits Scorecard: Use This Simple Exercise to Discover Which Habits You Should Change”. This article might be helpful if you’re doubting what challenge you should do. 

Here you can find a list of 30 day challenges you can do: 

  • Meditate daily
  • Eat vegan
  • Going for a walk after dinner
  • Wake up at 5am
  • Start your day with a cold shower
  • Practice a new language daily 
  • Drink 2 liters of water per day 
  • Stop drinking alcohol
  • Stop drinking coffee (caffeine)
  • Stop eating sugar
  • Write a journal
  • No social media 
  • Read for 20 minutes per day
  • Go to the gym before work 
  • Do 50 pushups/squats every day 
  • Meet somebody new every day
  • Sincerely compliment somebody every day 
  • Drink a fruit/vegetable shake for breakfast
  • Do intermittent fasting 
  • Prioritize and plan your day in the morning
  • Keep a gratitude list 
  • Practice yoga daily
  • Take a photograph a day
  • Don’t complain for a month
  • Write a book 
  • Write down 10 (bad) ideas for a new business project 

The fun part is that you are the boss! You decide what you want to do and how you want to do it. Also, it’s very beneficial to do 30 day challenges on a regular basis, which means that you don’t have to pick just one. We do recommend you do one challenge at the time though. Don’t overwhelm yourself.
